A Laddette : a young lady, who might be interested in activities, jobs and sports that have been traditionally stereotyped for mainly males. Might involve a liking for alcoholic beverages (especially lager), football, fast cars and men’s magazines.
She is not necessarily a feminist, and might even make enemies of feminists because feminists view much of the humour that Laddishness comprises as being a simple reclamation of the language of sexism, rather than a knowing parody.
But not to be conformist, either way, this laddette, loves soccer, rugby, fast cars, motorbikes, men’s magazines Kenyan and foreign but she is not here to discuss the ways in which she fits in with the boys. She will likely go on a ramble, displaying typically ‘girlie’ behaviour, but she will also show you all the reasons her aunties cringe with horror every time she shows up at a family gathering.
Many of her postings here will be fiction, set in the beautiful city of Nairobi, featuring a young lady who goes by the name of Zara. On other pages she might go off on a ramble about a game, or a situation, political or social, perhaps she might even tell you about her love interests.
This laddette will grow as she goes, and will discover what it is she want and might even decide to turn into a real lady. When she does, all the best of the world, eeih!
